What is goat milk soap?
Goat milk soap is bar soap made with goat milk in place of some or all of the water. The bars we carry start with raw goat milk plus plant oils and butters such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, castor oil, and shea butter. Exact ingredients vary by bar, so check each product page.
Why people like it:
- Creamy lather. Many people find goat milk bars lather softer and creamier than a typical drugstore bar.
- Less of that tight feeling. Goat milk contains natural fats and lactic acid, and many people with dry skin find a goat milk bar leaves their skin feeling less tight after a shower.
- An easy routine. One bar and one lotion is a simple place to start.
Goat milk soap is a cleanser, not a treatment. It isn't meant to treat eczema, psoriasis, or any other skin condition. If you have one, check with your doctor or dermatologist first.

How it differs from regular bar soap
- The base. Goat milk replaces some or all of the water used in the bar.
- True soap vs. detergent bars. Many mass-market "beauty bars" are detergent bars. The goat milk bars we carry are true soap, made from oils and butters with sodium hydroxide (lye) and goat milk. In properly cured soap, the lye has fully reacted with the oils.
- The feel. Many people find goat milk bars feel milder and creamier. Everyone's skin is different, so give a new bar a week or two.
- Small-batch variation. Bars can vary slightly in weight, color, and swirl from one batch to the next.
How to choose a scent
Every bar below is $7.50. Start with the mood you want in the shower:
- Soft and simple: Purely Oats (a mild oat scent, with oats in the bar), Sunshine (a soft scent with calendula petals).
- Calming florals: Lavender, Lemon Lavender.
- Warm and cozy: Vanilla Fig, Almond Biscotti.
- Bright and fruity: Mango Tangerine, Apple Mango Tango, Wildberry.
- Fresh and green: Mint Mashup, Lemongrass Sage, Green Clover & Aloe, Sea Salt Blossom.
- Clean and woodsy: Camo, Perfect Man.
If strong scents bother you, start with one of the softer options and patch test first (see the FAQ below). Browse every bar in Goat Milk Soap.
A quick word on fragrance
Scents vary from bar to bar. Every product page lists its full ingredients, so you can check before you buy, and patch test if your skin is sensitive.
Pair your soap with goat milk lotion
A goat milk lotion right after your shower is the second half of the routine. Apply it to slightly damp skin and massage it in.
- Oats, Milk & Honey Goat Milk Lotion, $13. Pairs with Purely Oats.
- Lavender Goat Milk Lotion, $13. Pairs with Lavender or Lemon Lavender.
- Vanilla Fig Goat Milk Lotion, $15. Pairs with Vanilla Fig.
Want both in one step? The Soft Skin Duo ($19) is one goat milk soap and one matching lotion in Oats, Milk & Honey, Lavender, or Vanilla Fig.

How to make a bar last
- Let it dry between uses. A bar sitting in water turns soft and washes away faster. A Bamboo Soap Dish ($3) lets water drain off.
- Keep it out of the spray. Set the dish where the shower stream won't hit it.
- Use a soap bag. Slip the bar into a Sisal Soap Scrub Bag ($1.50) to lather and give skin a light scrub. It's also handy for using up small end pieces. Hang it to dry after each use.
- Store spare bars somewhere cool and dry, away from steam and direct sun.
A simple morning and evening routine
Morning (5 minutes): Lather your goat milk bar on damp skin and rinse with lukewarm water. Pat dry, leaving skin a little damp, and smooth on lotion.
Evening (slower): Same soap and lotion, then lip balm before bed. Light a candle if that helps you wind down.
Sets that make it easy:
- Soft Skin Duo, $19: one goat milk soap and one matching lotion.
- Soft Skin Reset, $30: one goat milk soap, a matching lotion, a shower steamer, a lip balm, a sisal soap bag, and a bamboo dish. Choose Oats, Milk & Honey or Lavender.
- Soap, lotion, and candle ritual sets: Morning Fresh Ritual ($54.50), Vanilla Fig Scent Pair ($50.50), and Lavender Evening Ritual ($65.50). All three are over $50, so they ship free in the US.
- Goat milk lip balms: $4 each, or pick any 3 for $10 with the Lip Balm Pick 3.
